Our Objectives

The Occupy Lubbock movement is in solidarity with the objectives of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Occupy Lubbock intends to raise awareness about Occupy Wall Street objectives and ideals. Discussion is always good, especially when the people do not have a voice in our current political system.

The Occupy Wall Street goals include:

* Ending paid lobbying

* Getting corporate money out of political elections

* Separating investment banks from regular banks

* Ending corporate personhood

For any information on any of these things, please see us on 19th and University :)

    I believe that the “stimulus” plan was to pad the pockets of those who already control millions to billions of dollars.
    Also, forgiving debts would only reward those who abused the system.
    I don’t really care for “stimulus” programs, but if the government must issue one to prevent galactic destruction, then issue a mere $10,000 grant to each lawfully registered voter. The collective population would have a five fold stimulus turnover compared to the government sponsored projects.
    To get around local government incompetence/bias, any ordinance in which the council must issue any variance, should be repealed altogether. The city should not have the power to chose who must obey their laws, and those who are exempt. If an ordinance is too strict for anyone (including municipal people and properties), then the ordinance is too strict for the law abiding public.
    Many of the NO PARKING signs near the public schools, for which LPD and LISD Police refuse to ticket parked vehicles (usually near 4:00 PM when the roads are the most congested, subsequently need the most enforcement)need to be removed, so that residents can park adjacent to their own properties.
    There are too many corruptions and/or incompetencies of the local government to post in a comment box.
    Too bad there aren’t enough to occupy city hall (I don’t mean across the street, but actually inside city hall during business hours.)

    The problem is wealthy people have influenced the government to see things there way… mean while the average American goes jobless, homeless and moneyless, and soon food and clothing-less unless we do something… The problem is the Over-monied Companies and the people who run them… if we don’t come up with a way to kick them out of the country then there is no sense in protesting…
    All ready we have found ways to get around there ‘rigged’ system… (the Internet keeps us informed and connected for instance) and there are hand over fist people who are developing technologies that can circumvent the traditional Corporate money schemes… Free energy… free fuels… free manufacturing… we need laws that begin to address these new paradigm shifts…

    If you must fly the U.S. flag it would be appropriate for u to use your new generator to cast some light upon Ol’ Glory from dusk until dawn. It is not appropriate to let our colors be enveloped by the darkness. I’m sure that your goal is not to offend veterans and patriots. Thank you.

  4. LanCo:

    Thank you Jeremy, I’ll make sure that happens.
